Poptin vs BetterPopup.

Poptin is cheaper than us at every published price and has a free plan where we have none. If budget is the constraint, that is the answer, and the rest of this page is for the case where it is not.

Poptin is cheaper, free to start, and has formats we do not.

Their free tier is a real one, and paid starts at $25 a month against our $100. They also publish countdown timers, video popups and survey popups — three formats we do not ship, because BetterPopup makes one thing: a modal.

For a small site, or one that wants a countdown on a sale page, Poptin is the better buy.

The case for paying four times as much.

It is narrow, and it is about what happens after the first campaign.

Nothing is behind a tier

A/B testing, every trigger, every audience rule and all 30 templates are on the entry plan. The common pattern in this category is discovering that the feature you need lives two tiers up, at which point the cheap plan was never the real price.

It knows who already subscribed

Audiences can read marketing cookies from 7 providers — Klaviyo, SMSBump, Attentive, Postscript, Omnisend, Mailchimp, Yotpo — and withhold the popup from someone who joined through one of them. This only matters once your stack is split across more than one tool.

Side by side.

Ten rows. Four go to Poptin, two are a draw.

Every Poptin figure above was read on 18 August 2026 from their own pricing page. Vendors change pricing without notice — check before deciding.

Poptin, answered plainly.

Including whether their free plan is any good.

Their pricing page publishes a free tier at $0, Basic at $25 a month, Pro at $59 and Agency at $119, with annual billing saving 20%, plus a separate Email Growth plan priced by contact tier and a custom enterprise option. Price scales on monthly visitors and on how many email contacts you store. Read from their own pricing page on 18 August 2026.

Yes, clearly, at every published point — and they have a free forever plan where we have none. Our entry is $100 a month for up to 20,000 unique monthly visitors against their $25. If cost is the deciding factor, Poptin wins and we would rather say so than bury it.

Two reasons, and neither applies to everyone. First, everything is on every plan here — A/B testing, all 7 triggers, all 6 audience conditions, all 30 templates — so you are not upgrading a tier to unlock a feature you needed on day one. Second, if your stack is split across several providers, audiences here can read marketing cookies from 7 of them and stop asking someone who already subscribed elsewhere. If you run one provider and a small site, that second reason is worth nothing to you.

Countdown timers, video popups and survey popups are three formats they publish and we do not ship at all — we make one thing, a modal. They also list more templates than us, and they have a free tier. For a store that wants a countdown on a sale page, this comparison is over before it starts.

Their pricing page publishes it as free forever with monthly visitor limits at the bottom of their ladder and one domain. That is a genuine free tier rather than a disguised trial. Whether it is enough depends entirely on your traffic — free plans in this category are usually capped low enough that a working store outgrows them, but starting there costs you nothing and tells you what you actually need.
