Privy vs BetterPopup.

These two are not really the same product. Privy captures a signup and sends the email. BetterPopup only does the capture, and hands it to whichever provider you already run. That difference decides this, not a feature list.

Privy is cheaper, older, and does more.

Privy's popups start at $24 a month against our $100. It carries 4.5 stars from 3,971 reviews on the Shopify App Store. And on its email plans it does the part we deliberately do not do at all — writing and sending the campaigns, with SMS credits alongside.

If you have no email platform yet and want capture, sending and billing from one vendor, Privy is the better buy and you can stop reading. The rest of this page is one specific situation where it is not.

The case where an all-in-one stops fitting.

It is narrower than a comparison page normally admits.

Your sending side is already chosen

If Klaviyo or Omnisend already owns your email, Privy's email half is capability you will pay for and not use. Its popups-only plan avoids that — and then the question is purely which capture layer is better for a stack you have already committed to.

It is more than one provider

Email in one tool and SMS in another is normal now. One popup that writes to all 6 connected providers at once means one design, one set of targeting rules, and one place to change them.

You need to stop re-asking people

Someone who joined your SMS list through Postscript should not meet the same offer next week. Audiences here can read marketing cookies from 7 providers and withhold the popup — a question that only exists once your stack is split.

Side by side.

Every Privy figure and capability above was read on 17 August 2026 from privy.com/pricing and Privy on the Shopify App Store. Nothing here is a claim about Privy's performance, its customers or their results — only about what it publishes. If a figure has moved, tell us and we will correct it.

The six we hand a signup to.

Privy is not on this list, and that is the honest boundary of this comparison: if Privy is your sending platform, its own displays are the right capture layer for it. This page is for the stacks built on the providers below.

  • Omnisend

Privy questions, answered straight.

Two of these answers send you to Privy.

Privy publishes three entry plans: Pop Ups & Displays at $24 a month for up to 10,000 monthly pageviews, Email at $30 a month for up to 1,500 mailable contacts, and Email and SMS at $45 a month for 1,500 contacts plus 1,250 SMS credits. The popups plan scales with pageviews up to $1,500 a month at 3.5 million-plus. There is a 15-day trial and no permanent free plan. Figures read from their own pricing page and Shopify listing on 17 August 2026.

Privy, clearly — $24 a month against our $100. They also bill on pageviews where we bill on unique visitors, so a store with heavy repeat traffic and few distinct people can land very differently under the two. If the deciding factor is monthly cost, this comparison ends here and Privy wins it.

That is a question about email platforms rather than popups, and it turns on what you need the sending side to do. Privy bundles capture and sending in one bill and is simpler to run; Klaviyo goes much deeper on segmentation, flows and reporting. BetterPopup does not replace either — it sits in front of whichever one you pick.

Not directly — Privy is not one of the providers we sync to. The six are Klaviyo, Omnisend, Mailchimp, Attentive, Postscript and Drip. If Privy is your sending platform, Privy's own displays are the sensible capture layer for it, and we are the wrong tool.

When the sending side is already decided and is more than one vendor. A store running Klaviyo for email and Postscript for SMS needs one popup that writes to both and knows not to re-ask someone who joined through either. That is the specific job BetterPopup is built for, and it is the only reason to pay $100 a month on top of a stack you already own.

Yes to both — Privy advertises exit-intent offers on its site and A/B testing in its Shopify listing. Neither is a reason to switch away from it, and this page does not claim otherwise.
